We categorize the size range from 14-16 a "boys size large" which puts us in agreement with the vast majority of makers out there. Some makers have their own quirky sizing schemes that create a lot of confusion for shoppers. Some call a size 12 Large and others use "boys size large " for describing a small boy or toddler size. For the most part though boys clothing in size 14-16 is considered boys large or youth large. This ranging size category is most often used for labelling clothing like t-shirts, fleece wear and other similar casual items that aren't expected to be specially fitted. In winter outerwear a size large (size 14-16) will usually be most ideal for the average 14-15 year old. Many makers run large so their size large or size 14/16 winter items may be a good fit for a 16 year old too. Always check the measurements to be sure.
