Boys Snowboard pants are essentially regular snow pants on steroids! The prevailing trend is towards pant style snowboard pants rather than bib style. These are stylish but sometimes the least practical too. Snowboarding leads to falling and if you're wearing pant style snowboard pants there's a good chance of getting snow under the clothing. Bibs do a better job of keeping that snow out when you take a fall.

Some makers have bib style snowboard pants, or half-bib styles but the majority are making snowboard pants to look a lot like regular pants. The materials and features can be extravagant. Usually the shells are most durable on snowboard pants and made in super-hero materials that only chemists or physicists understand. The knees are often articulated or reinforced and seat often reinforced. The snowboard pants will often have many pockets, regular and cargo pockets as well as hidden inside pockets. Waist will often be adjustable, have belt loops and a zip fly. The cuffs reinforced, zip open, have snow cuffs built in. But all the features do come at a price. Snowboard pants certainly are nice looking, exceptionally well made (not the most practical for actually snowboarding in them in my opinion) are quite warm and water resistant but are vastly more expensive than regular snow pants. They are worth some extra cost but I have to wonder if it's really worth spending five times more on a pair of snowboard pants when a pair of regular snow pants can do the same or better job! Get 'em used, if you can ever find them, and then the price may make some sense.

When sizing boys snowboard pants measure the waist and inseam on a pair of regular pants that are fitting him perfectly. Then in snowboard pants look for a size with a slightly larger waist and a similar inseam. Pant style snowboard pants are very similar in their sizing and fit as regular pants.
